Magazine

I was responsible for the magazine part of the app. This space would serve as a space for the client to publish his self made magazine. This magazine would contain several recipes, restaurant reviews and later on we added a photo gallery too.

Firstly I made a page where the user was able to access all the different pages in one space. After consulting with the client, he wanted it to be more separated, which is why I turned it into a 2 step process. Now the user can pick out which path they would want to go into which would lead to a page with all the other pages.

The client had a bunch of colours for his branding and requested to incorporate that in the magazine by having each section a different colour. I prototyped it but noticed that it became very messy. This was because the page included a bunch of images and the colours were definitely clashing a lot.
I therefore proposed to keep it more subtle and use white text instead. This gave the app a much more sophisticated look and draws the users attention more towards the images, rather than being so distracted by all the colours.

The client also requested for the magazine to really feel like a physical magazine. He wanted users to feel like they were actually reading a magazine rather than a regular post on their devices.
To do this I incorporated sliding transitions between the different recipes, reviews and photos. This way when a user clicks on of the recipes, they can flip through the rest to mimic flipping through an actual magazine.
